
Police in Kabale district are holding a civil servant who is accused of impersonating as a magistrate.
The suspect Aloysius Monday, works in the records department at Kabale District Local Government and is also a lecturer at African College of Commerce and Technology in Kabale Municipality..
He was arrested on Thursday evening at Kabale Courts of Judiciary while soliciting money from people, pretending to be a magistrate.
Darius Nandinda, the Kabale RDC who ordered the arrest says he was forced to act after five different people stormed his office claiming that a certain magistrate had taken their money to help them win their cases in court.
Nandinda says that he was surprised when the victims showed him Monday at the Court premises.
He says at the time of arrest, Monday had solicited Shs. 250,000 from five people.
Elly Maate, The Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson confirmed the arrest of Monday, saying that he is currently held at Kabale Police Station as investigations into the matter carry on.
Last week, Julius Zaribugyire, the Kabale Chief Magistrates Court Clerk was arrested on allegations of soliciting a bribe of 600,000 shillings.
