Three guns and five magazines have been recovered in Kasangali Market commonly known as Kajolya Market in Bwesumbu Sub-County, Kasese District.
The recovered guns are believed to have been dropped by unknown people after one week of community policing meetings held at Bwesumbu sub-county headquarters.
The resident District Commissioner Kasese District Major James Mwesigye, while addressing locals said the riffles had been grabbed from security personnel during the November 2016 clashes that erupted between royal guards and government security organs.
The attack left a number of police officers and royal guards dead and dozens imprisoned.
Maj. Mwesigye hailed the community for the cooperation and being good listeners to their leaders who have been preaching peace and surrendering of weapons.
Mwesigye said that during the attacks 19 guns were taken away from security officers by the royal guards, and that now only three are still missing.
Samuel Eccega the Rwenzori Regional police commander challenged those who are still in hiding to come out and surrender to the government.
