Anaka Hospital, one of the oldest and major health facilities in Nwoya district, has caught fire.

A huge fireball broke out Monday afternoon at the newly refurbished facility according to eye witnesses.

The cause of the fire was still unknown by publication time, and whether or not there were causalities and or fatalities.

Built back in the late 1960s during the administration of Prime Minister Milton Obote, the hospital lies about 50kms South of Gulu town.

The Hospital was attacked, ransacked and vandalized as the region suffered two decades of the Lord’s Resistance Army insurgency.

Buy the end of the civil war; it reeled in dilapidated infrastructure, antiquated or non-existent equipment, poor funding, poor staffing, poor pay, late salary payments, and low staff morale

But government in 2014 commenced a Shs. 18billion renovation project which was completed recently, leaving it with a new, bigger outpatients’ department, a mortuary an enlarged private wing for paying patients, better staff houses among others.
