The Members of Parliament from the National Resistance Movement have been summoned to report to State House Entebbe on Tuesday morning.
ChimpReports has obtained a copy of messages sent out by the office of the Government Chief Whip to all the 300 MPs subscribing to the ruling party.
The brief message said MPs should arrive at State House by 9am tomorrow, a day before the house resumes on Wednesday.
“Dear member, be informed that there is Caucus meeting at State House Entebbe on Tuesday. Please be at State House by 9:00am,” the message said.
High on the agenda, it’s speculated, is the UGX 6bn Presidential Handshake that has already been condemned by senior ruling party officials including the Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba and Deputy Spokesman Ofwono Opondo.
Many NRM MPs have already openly expressed their disappointments and called for an investigation.
President Yoweri Museveni has been quiet on the matter since it came to light two weeks ago.
On Wednesday last week he reportedly maintained his silence when the matter came up during the weekly Cabinet sitting.
It remains to be seen whether if he has made his decision and ready to share a piece of it with the NRM MPs.
When contacted on phone to confirm the development, the Chief Whip Nankabirwa
promised to return the call later.
Nankabirwa together with the First Deputy Prime Minister, Moses Ali on Monday last week ‘smuggled’ the URA Commissioner General, Doris Akol and two other officials involved in the bonanza to a meeting with the Speaker.
