Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is today Friday January 8, 2021 set to traverse Kyankwanzi and Kiboga districts after securing his freedom in court last evening.
On Thursday, Amuriat together with his driver Michael Emorut were arrested at Kasalaba trading center by security under the command of Deogratius Obura the Albertine Regional Police Commander (RPC).
They were thereafter driven to Kakumiro Police Post and at about 6:30 PM arraigned in Kakumiro Grade One Magistrates Court presided over by Abdullah Kayiza on charges related to “Dangerous Driving”.
“Its alleged that you Amuriat Oboi Patrick on the 7th of January 2021 at about 18:00 Hours at Kasalaba Village along Kibaale-Kakumiro road was carried on the roof of motor vehicle registration number UBF 042 E,” the charge sheet read.
On the other hand, his driver Emorut was charged with driving carelessly.
The two were later released after the presiding judge concurred with their lawyer Franklin Byekitinisa and granted each a Non Cash bail of 500,000 shillings.
Emorut was ordered to present a photocopy of his ID and Driving Permit before adjourning the case to February 3, 2020 when the matter will come up for hearing.
