
After a tip off by Chimpreports, police chief Gen. Kale Kayihura this afternoon led an impromptu operation in the outskirts of Kampala, arresting more than 15 members of the infamous Kifeesi gang.
On Monday evening, the group terrorized a number of motorists along Entebbe road. Following our tip off today during a press conference he held early in the morning in Naguru, the police boss carried out the operation with help from local leaders of Katwe, Nsambya and surrounding areas.
He commented, “How can all this happen when the leaders are watching? The public has been crying over these thugs with no help.” The operations then started leading to arrest of more than 15 members of the criminal gang, Kifeesi.
On the swoop were CPS DPC Aron Baguma and other police commanders in Kampala. The locals narrated to the police on how they had been kept on tenterhooks by the thugs.
They applauded Kayihura for the operation but noted that a lot more has needs to be done because this was only a tip of the iceberg.
“Many come in the evening hours, rob people and then run. We are insecure because of the group that has made our lives difficult, “said one of the locals who preferred anonymity.
