Two people from Kayunga district have dragged government to court seeking compensation of up to Shs. 130billion for their land located in the compensation corridor of Isimba Hydro Electricity Dam project .

Tom Musisi Kazibwe and Charles Magumba filed their suit to High Court through their lawyers of Web Advocates & Solicitors.

Kazibwe claims he owns 56 acres of customary land at Sporta Village, Nazigo Sub-county, in Kayuga District, and 2.6 other acres of land at Wabirongo Village, Nazigo Sub-county in the same District.

Magumba on the other hand claims ownership of 30 acres at Kiteredde Village also in Nazigo Sub-county.

The plaintiffs claim that their pieces of land were not properly evaluated by the government valuer.

The two contend that in 2011, they were approached by a valuer from Kagga &Partners, who carried out the valuation of all the land within the compensation corridor of Isimba Hydro -Electricity Dam project.

However, they point out that in the valuation, only physical developments on land were considered, leaving out minerals like sand and rocks.

They add that these very minerals have been mined and used by the contractor (China International Water and Electricity Company Limited) for the power project.

The duo now want court to order government to pay them Shs. 132, 800,000,000 which they say is the fair and adequate value for their land.
