Another Uganda yesterday showed extraordinary debating prowess in the United States.
Special Presidential Assistant for Research and Information at Government of Uganda Morrison Rwakakamba was yesterday decorated winner of this year’s USA mock Presidential Debate at Harvard Kennedy School in Massachusetts.
The mock presidential debate was organized in line with the ongoing presidential candidates’ debates ahead of next November’s elections.
Rwakakamba said he was inspired by a 2007 movie ‘Great Debaters’ in which little known Wiley College defeated the Harvard University debate team in 1935.
He said, “From little known Rwabihurwa Primary School in Nyeibingo, Kebisoni, Rukungiri – I was today declared winner of 2016 USA mock Presidential Debate at Harvard Kennedy School.”
Over the years, the school debate has seen many real-life presidential contenders appear participate, as well as press secretaries, journalists, and bloggers.
Col Dr Kizza Besigye’s son Anselm Besigye was recently elected President of the debating club at his Belmont Hill School in Boston, Massachusetts.
