Kanungu Woman Member of Parliament Elizabeth Karungi has revealed that government will start distributing relief food to starving households in Kanungu District today Monday.
Karungi made the revelation on Saturday while addressing residents of Nyanga Sub County which is one of the most hit sub counties.
The MP says she contacted the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness which sent a team to assess the situation and on their return they recommended that the district was stressed by hunger and therefore relief food was needed.
This comes amid reports of fatal cases reported in the district due to hunger which prompted Kihiihi sub county leaders led by Nelson Natukunda, the LC 3 chairman for Kihiihi Sub County recently wrote to district authorities to intervene in the matter.
