Kabale Municipal authorities are up in arms with Born-again Christians of the Revival Outreach Ministries over Kabale Municipal Stadium.

The troubles stem from confusion on the booking of the stadium.

Revival Outreach Ministries says it has a crusade there running from 7th to 14th May 2017, yet the council says the stadium was booked for the National Ball Games One competitions which are being hosted by St. Marys College Rushoroza from 6th to 15th May 2017.

The sports completions will include games like Rugby, Badminton, basketball, and tennis; and are expected to attract competitions over fifty secondary schools across the country.

The Kabale Municipality authorities accuse Revival Outreach Ministries of forcefully hijacking the venue and erecting tents for their crusades.

Joseph Kimbowa, the Kabale Municipality Town Clerk says his office received a request letter from Remegio Byamukama, the head teacher of St. Marys College Rushoroza, (the host school) on 20th April 2017 to avail the stadium for the sports competitions.

Kimbowa says that although he learnt that Revival Outreach Ministries had booked the same stadium for the crusade, he directed the office of the Central Division Assistant Town Clerk to find the church another venue.

He says he was stunned however, on Friday afternoon finding a group of youths led by Bishop Johnson Bakashaba, the head of Revival Out Reach Ministries erecting a huge tent in the stadium.

He said when he approached to ask them they youths almost assaulted him.

Mr Kimbowa says he decided to forward the matter to the office of the Kabale District Police Commander and Kabale Resident District Commissioner.

Bishop Bakashaba on the other hand says he was shocked to hear that the venue he paid Shs 1.4million to hire was being rented out for another function.

He says he never received any communication from Kabale Municipality authorities concerning the changes, and vowed to proceed with the revival conference.

He also condemned the Municipal council authorities who he termed as “servants of the devil” who are hell bent on subverting God’s work.

Dickens Bindeba, the Kabale District Police Commander says his office is aware of the issue and that he is planning on meeting the fighting parties.
