
The Managing Director of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation, Eng. Dr. Silver Mugisha together with other officials from the corporation have Wednesday carried out an inspection of water and sanitation facilities around the Kampala city.
The tour, according officials was aimed at recording feedback from beneficiaries of NWSC projects in the city for better service delivery.
“You cannot manage what you don’t know. You can’t just sit in office and imagine that all is ok. Working with local leaders, I will often visit the field to note feedback from our customers.” Said Eng Mugisha.
NWSC plans to add over 4000 water points in various parts of the city to improve access to safe water among the urban poor.
Eng. Mugisha was accompanied by local council leaders from the different divisions of Kampala including Kampala RCC Deborah Mbabazi, Nakawa RCC Jackie Kemigisha, Rubaga RCC Bwabye Richard,Makindye RCC Moses Mugweri, Central RCC Sarah Bananuka and Kawempe RCC Deborah Nabukenya.
“It is a rare thing to see a Managing Director leaving his office to come and listen to the people. We pledge to support NWSC initiatives to better the lives of our people,” said Deborah Mbabazi, the Kampala RCC.
Some of the installations visited included NWSC Prepaid Water meters that enable the urban poor buy water at the official price of shs37 per 20 litre jerrycan.
The customer connect exercise will go on for 4 weeks as the corporation moves to better services in the city.
