The wife of deceased Kampala Businessman Eria Bugembe Kasiwukira has been arrested in the eastern border town of Busia, officials have confirmed.
Police Authorities believe that Mrs Sarah Nabikolo who was formerly a Primary suspect in the murder of her husband only to be acquitted by court this month, was assaying discretely to leave the country.
The Police Spokesperson for the Bukedi area Kamulya Sowali told this website that Ms Nabikolo was arrested last night at around 11PM by Immigration officers.
He said she attempted to bribe officers at the border point, who became suspicious and called their bosses in Kampala.
The Police mouthpiece told us on phone that Nabikolo was arrested with 3 other people at the Busia Customs where she said she was headed for the Kenyan coastal town of Mombasa.
The other two were identified as Kyasa Catherine and Lubulwa Collins.
“When we asked them to present passports, she only presented a driving permit but in searching her bag, the passport number BO577389 was found,”the Bukedea region PRO told Chimpreports.
“We then called the office of the DPP and CIID who said she had to be intercepted and brought back to Kampala. ” She was aboard Modern Bus to Mombasa at around 11pm at night”
Although the widow was acquitted of the murder of her husband while her two co-accused were sentenced to 20 years in jail, the Director of Public Prosecutions indicated interest in appealing the High Court judgement, which could partly explain her arrest.
