Authorities and inmates at the Rukungiri Central Prison were startled on Tuesday morning when they found a female prisoner hanging in one of the prison toilets.
Shallon Tugumisirize was found in one of the Ladies toilets hanging on her piece of cloth.
Tugumisirize has been on remand over alleged murder of her co-wife. She is accused together with two men Duncan Nyesigire and Ben Bandonda alias Kabeni for the murder of Apophia Kobusingye and her child Mark Akampurira from Rwenshekye cell, Nyarushanje sub county Rukungiri
The bodies of the two were according to prosecution found dumped in a stream on August 5 2016.
The three suspects were remanded to Rukungiri central prison by the Rukungiri Grade one magistrate Josephine Nakaato.
Frank Baine the Uganda prisons public relations officer confirmed the incident, saying that on the Tuesday morning as prisoners were taken out to go and do laundry, they realized tha Tugumisirize was missing.
On making searches, her body was found in the toilet hanging on her kitengi.
