Allen Kagina, The Executive Director Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has urged the Authority’s project consultants to always be mindful of ethics and integrity in their work.
“Never take ethics and integrity for granted. For us to produce the best work we have to always mind the quality of the work that we do; the services we offer to the people and how we offer them,” She said.
Mrs. Kagina was meeting the UNRA project consultants following her recent tour of the roads in different parts of the country, whose condition she said was not encouraging.
At the meeting held on Thursday at Silver Springs Hotel Bugolobi, Kagina remarked, “There are roads I saw yesterday where contractors won’t get more jobs.”
“In Uganda very many people have lost trust in UNRA because of its passed reputation. That’s one of the reasons why we restructured the whole organization to make sure we only remain with the best people for the job.”
Speaking at the event, Patrick Bulema UNRA’s head of design and construction pointed out one of the problems they have had with consultants as their lack of awareness of UNRA’s aspirations, yet all these have been outlined in the contracts. She urged them to go back and read them.
Meanwhile the ED Kagina dismissed talk that UNRA and its consultants are not in good terms, clarifying the authority is only seeking to better their working environment to ensure they produce the best work.
Kagina emphasized that only through good work and integrity, will UNRA regain its lost trust in Ugandans.
