Photos: Lt Gen Kainerugaba, U.S. Defence Attache Discuss Military Cooperation

The new United States Defence Attache to Uganda, Lt Col Scott Polasek, has this Wednesday morning met with the UPDF Special Forces Commander, Lt. General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Officials said the two military officers discussed further strengthening the strong Uganda-US military to military co-operation.

“The two officers also reviewed the strong historical links between the two militaries and pledged to work to strengthen them further,” reads a brief statement from SFC seen by ChimpReports.

The meeting took place at the newly-commissioner SFC headquarters in Entebbe.

The United States provides significant development and security assistance to Uganda, with a total assistance budget exceeding $970 million per year.

The U.S. government also plays a key role in supporting the professionalization of UPDF. This includes specialized training of Ugandan armed forces.

The joint training is aimed at increasing engineering and logistical capabilities of UPDF while strengthening the bonds between the partner countries.

Both U.S. and Ugandan forces have been conducting joint military operations in East Africa and Somalia.

Lt Gen Kainerugaba, who doubles as Senior Presidential Advisor in charge of Special Operations, welcomed Polasek to Uganda.
