FDC Deputy Electoral Commission (EC) Chairman Michael Kabaziguruka has been re-arrested, a party official revealed Tuesday.

“Kabaziguruka has been taken to Nalufenya Police facility,” said Moses Byamugisha, an FDC staff attached to the Office of the Leader of Opposition in Parliament.

Located in Jinja, Nalufenya station serves as a strategic base for police’s special counter terrorism operations.

The place boasts a hi-tech detention facility where terror suspects are held.

Some of the 2010 Kampala bombing suspects and ADF Commander Jamil Mukulu are detained at the facility.

It’s guarded by police special forces.

Kabaziguruka was arrested from his residence last week before being interrogated by detectives at the Special Investigations (SIU) headquarters in Kireka, Kampala.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said then that Kabaziguruka was “helping us with investigations, into some very serious offences that involve other suspects as well.”

It is understood several security personnel arrested in the wake of an allegedly foiled ‘coup plot’ are being detained at Nalufenya.

The newly-elected Nakawa lawmaker told this website that detectives questioned him on his purported links with dissident military officers.

He was later released on police bond before being rearrested. Police bond documents show Kabaziguruka was being investigated for “acts of “terrorism.”
