Police in Kabale District has seven sex workers in detention for staying around bars and continuously getting in touch with truck drivers, an act that could easily spread Covid19.
The sex workers were arrested on Tuesday night at around 23:00 hours at Safe lodge near Bombokya bar and lodges in Kabale.
The arrested are Susan Ainembabazi,20, Bridget Natukunda 18, Gladys Ayamba 17, Ruth Tugumisirize ,20, Jamira Uwase 24, Brenda Akanyijuka 22, and Happiness Nkabire aged 24.
Truck drivers have been the most affected persons with Corona virus in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic.
Truck drivers who attempt to stop in Kabale are most times headed to Kisoro, Rwanda and the democratic republic of Congo.
Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson says the arrested sex workers tend to lure truck drivers who stop in town which poses a risk of contracting the disease.
