Kabale Municipality mayor Emmanuel Byamugisha Sentaro has threatened to sue one Sam Tindimwebwa Kanyamukiza for alleged defamation on social media.
Tindimwebwa, a resident of Southern Division in Kabale municipality and founder of local NGO Urban Right Network, recently expressed interest in challenging Byamugisha for the mayoral seat in the 2021 general elections.

In his letter of intention to sue through his lawyers of Byamukama and Company advocates, Sam Tindimwebwa has been given five days within which to delete online posts as well as writing an apology and also paying Shs 200 million to Mayor Byamugisha.
The mayor claims Tindimwebwa has been posting on social media platforms alleging that he (the mayor) participated in the extortion of money and illegal sale a plot of land that belongs to Kabale Municipality.
When contacted on the matter Sam Tindimwebwa Kanyamukiza told our reporter that he is living in fear after receiving threats from the Mayor.
He added however, that he has sufficient evidence implicating the Mayor in the sale of government properties and also noted that concerned citizens of Kabale municipality have already dragged Kabale Municipality to court over the sale of Kabale municipal yard.
He also vowed not to delete any posts or apologise to Mayor Byamugisha.
