Opposition Uganda Peoples’ Congress (UPC) has appealed to Members of the 10th Parliament to turn to God and seek his guidance as they represent Ugandans.

UPC spokesperson, Michael Osinde Orachi told the media at Uganda House on Wednesday that only when the parliamentarians seek God’s guidance, will they ably represent the interests of the country.

“UPC supports the induction training for all Members of Parliament before business starts in ensuring good conduct of Parliamentary proceedings as we frame the destiny of Uganda; we however note that members should be sensitized on reflecting on Godly values so as to provide good representation of all Ugandans,” Osinde said.

“Members must understanding that in their service, they don’t serve themselves but serve God through helping Ugandans; it would therefore be important to induct the House on the values of God,” Osinde observed.

The opposition party’s mouthpiece remarked that values of love, reconciliation, forgiveness and serving the country beyond self should be inculcated in the induction training.

Osinde was also unhappy with the Speaker of the 10th Parliament Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga who recently visited a shrine apparently to give thanks to her ancestors for her triumph.

“I have no problem with a person’s belief but everyone must understand that the supremacy of God is unquestioned and for any favors they should be requested from him.”

“According to Psalms 24: 1, all things belong to God and in my understanding the Speaker shouldn’t think that her favor comes from anywhere apart from God.”
