Kabale district has received Shs 360million from the Uganda Road Fund for the rehabilitation of roads and bridges that were recently damaged by the heavy rains in Kabale district.
The roads to be worked on include Rwenkorongo -Kahungye – Nkora, Kagogo bridge, Omukikazi bridge Ugx, Kitoko bridge, Mukokye bridge and others.
Patrick Besigye Keihwa, the Kabale LC5 Chairman says the money is a great relief to the district, given how much damage was done by the rains and floods last month.
Keihwa says about ten roads were affected and adds that government needs to find more money for the repairs.
He adds that even Maziba primary school was razed down by the landslides and needs to be reconstructed.
David Bahati the state Minister of state for finance, planning who is also the Ndorwa West member of Parliament says there is hope for more money to be released for work on all the damaged roads in the region.
