Museveni: Late Kasami Restored Uganda’s Economy

President Yoweri Museveni has disclosed that the Late Former Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance Christopher Kassami did a vital role in the growth and development of Uganda’s economy.

The president said, “When we’re coming from the bush in the 1986, the Country’s economy had declined greatly. Late Kasaami, Kahooza and Emmanuel Mutebile Governor Bank of Uganda worked tirelessly to ensure the recovery of Uganda’s economy. As NRM government, we recognize and appreciate their efforts”.

He observed that the trio, controlled inflation and worked on the Liberalization of the economy.

The President was on Tuesday speaking to hundreds of mourners at a mass held for the Late Christopher Kasaami at Virika Cathedral in Fort Portal.

Kasaami succumbed to heart failure at the age of 67 in Nairobi Kenya on Saturday. Burial was held at his ancestral home in Kasusu South Division, Fort Portal Municipality on Tuesday.

Rt. Rev. Bishop Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki of Fort Portal Diocese called upon people to utilize this lent season to repent all their sins before the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Day.

Richard Rwabuhinga the Kabarole District chairperson said, “ Late Kasaami struggled had to enable the Fort Portal-Kampala highway completed, played a big role to ensure Buhinga Hospital gets a storied private ward and funded the construction of the district headquarters Kitumba with shs 2bn among others”.

He described the late as hardworking, patriotic and loving who respected anyone despite his reputation as a national figure.

The President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyata and President of Rwanda Paul Kagame sent their representatives and described the Late Kasami as a true economist, loving and committed civil servant.
