A fatal accident that occurred Friday morning on Jinja road claimed one life, and 6 others who are not yet identified have been injured.
The deceased has been identified as Alice Namunana.
According to a witness, the accident occurred “near Iganga refueling station in Jinja.”
The accident occurred when a taxi registration number UAZ 960Q that was carrying traders from Kayunga to Ambercourt Market Jinja lost control and overturned.
kira Region Police spokesperson Diana Nandaula, speaking to ChimpReports confirmed the incident, saying the accident was “as a result of overspeeding”
The driver of the taxi, Nandula said, is “on the run.”
Police, she added, has “launched a hunt for the driver.”
The injured were taken to Jinja Hospital but were later transferred to other medical centers for further treatment.
