Forum for the Democratic supporters in Mbarara today held their weekly free my vote campaign prayers peacefully at their party offices on Markhan Singh street.

This was in spite of police’s earlier warnings against these prayers, having been banned by the constitutional court last week.

At the FDC’s headquarters in Kampala, the prayers were foiled by anti-riot police and Pastor David Ngabo, among other party leaders were arrested.

In Mbarara, the district FDC chairman Stanley Katembeya expressed gratitude that their prayer session was not interrupted by police.

He revealed that the party members also expect no police interruption during the March 5th national demonstration for an independent audit of the February Presidential elections. He said police has duly been informed about the demo.

Katembeya also appealed to the police officers to support and join in the march.

During the prayer session, Rev. Can Francis Mutatina from All Saints Church Mbarara advised the opposition party supporters to continue with prayers, noting that God listens to those that seek him earnestly.

The preacher of the day Eng. Emmanuel Bukabeba strongly condemned the Constitutional Court decision to ban FDC’s defiance campaign that includes the prayer session itself.
