The chairman, UPC electoral commission Hajj Mahmoud Kazimbiraine said the opposition party was looking forward to actively participate in the exercise.

“Its high time UPC provided leadership once again to this country especially at grass root level,” he told press on Wednesday.

“The party is aware that a lot of its members are sitting quietly on the countryside; we therefore call upon them, wherever they are to come out and contest for the leadership of their villages”.

11th to 14th October: identification of party flag bearers for LC1 and women committees.

16th to 21st: holding of primaries where required.
