Residents of Rubindi in Mbarara district yesterday received a brand new a milk cooler and a standby generator which were promised to them by President Yoweri Museveni.
The equipment to help dairy farmers was delivered at Rubindi Parish by Deputy Chief of Defense Forces Lt. Gen. Charles Angina, who represented Gen. Salem Saleh the chief coordinator Operation Wealth Creation (OWC).
At the function, Gen. Angina applauded religious leaders in the area for supporting government efforts to eradicate poverty at household level through the OWC program.
“We are now more inspired than ever about the program, thanks to you the religious leaders,” said Angina, adding “There is nothing that can fail this program if we have all your support.”
On his part, the Rubindi Parish Priest Fr. Felix Bikwatsizehi expressed thanks to the president for remembering his promise to them.
He noted that this wasn’t the first time the President had come out to support them, recalling that he had earlier sent them Shs. 15.5 million to support local farmers.
Bikwatsizehi said the church farm was now looking forward to becoming a demo centre for Operation Wealth Creation as the president intended.
He however asked Gen. Angina to remind the president about the pending pledges he mad,e which include; a chain link, pews, completion of the church which needs a wardrobe, dressing table, loud speakers and a three phase electric line for the dairy unit.
The function was also attended by Kashari north MP Hon. Yaguma Rutashokwa and OWC Western Region Coordinator Col. Sikagi Tumusiime.
