Twenty four people charged with masterminding the killing of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi have again raised torture claims in court.
Appearing before Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court, one of the accused Jibril Kalyango told Magistrate Noah Ssajjabi that he was tortured and forced to confess to the killing.
“On top of torture, I was forced to sign documents and say things I don’t know,”Kalyango told the Magistrate on Wednesday.
The accused also demanded to know the condition of his wife and 9 month old child whom he said were arrested by police and has never heard from them.
His pleas were however, interrupted by the Grade One Magistrate, who said he could only raise them to a superior court.
“You will say all that to the High Court which has jurisdiction to hear your case,” Noah Sajjabi, the Nakawa Grade One Magistrate told the accused.
The suspects were remanded up to August, 24.
Twenty four people are accused of plotting to kill AIGP Kaweesi, his driver and bodyguard in March as they left his home in Kulambiro.
The suspects include Abdu Ashid Mbazira , Higenyi Aramazan Noordin alias Abdallahzack, Mugerwa Yusuf alias Wilson, Bruhan Balyejusa alias Masiga Jimmy Oguttu.
Others are Maganda Umar Aramathan, Ahamad Senfuka Shaban alias Sheik Tawheed, Hassan Tumusiime, Ibrahim Kissa alias Colonel Ibra, Osman Mohammed Omarete alias Hirya, Magamabo Hamidu alias Kan Yam, Abdu Majid Ojerere, Kyambadde Joshua Magezi alias Abdu Rahamanand Sheik Musa Ntende Abubakar.
