Police in Mbarara have in detention a 37 year old Anglican Church priest who was allegedly caught in unnatural sexual acts.
Rev. Lauben Turyasingura is a priest at Kiryaburo Church of Uganda found in Rugaga Sub County, in Isingiro district.
The suspect, police says, was caught in the act on July 27th at Jemax Lodges in Kijungu, Mbarara.
The Rwizi regional police mouthpiece Samson Kasasira said the man identified as Moses Ndamuhaki who was allegedly abused by Rev Turyasingura, told them this wasn’t the first time.
“The victim is a resident of Kamwenge district. He told us he had brought his child for treatment at Mbarara Referral hospital and the suspect called him to the lodge and forced him into the act,” the police spokesperson told reporters.
Turyasingura however, dismissed the police account.
He says the purported victim came with the police offices in the lodge where he was resting after arriving from Kampala; and immediately undressed himself and the officers started taking photos.
“It was all stage managed. They also took all my money totaling Shs 390,000,” he told our reporter at Mbarara CPS.
Turyasingura says he was looking for money to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Theology at Bishop Stuart University and that he had just obtained the stolen money from Minister David Bahati and Hon. Steven Kangwagye.
The duo had not responded to our requests for comments.
The Police spokesperson says they are looking for further evidence about the suspect before his file can be forwarded to the DPP.
