Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Gen Kahinda Otafiire was this afternoon attacked by local government leaders who were meeting at the Mandela National Stadium (Nambole).
The minister went to the venue where members of the Uganda Local Government’s Association (ULGA) were converging.
The association brings together all local governments and is mandated to foster common positions on key issues that affect Local Governance through lobbying, advocacy and representation of Local Governments at local, National and International fora.
The district leaders at Namboole expected to be addressed by President Yoweri Museveni who was programmed as the chief guest.
They were however, perturbed when the minister took to the podium and insisted on addressing them.

In a matter of seconds, the minister was forced off the stage with angry chants, as other members hurled bottles of water at him.
The meeting at Nambole stadium, was supposed to address “strategies through which the Leaders can support and contribute effectively to the implementation of Vision 2020 for the attainment of a middle income status by our Country Uganda”
It was running under the theme, “Uganda Vision 2020 and Addressing Middle Income Status Opportunities, Barriers and the Role of Local Governments”.
