Police has said the driver of NRM Secretary General, Justine Kasule Lumumba has been held to help in investigations in the cause of the accident that claimed one person on Entebbe road.
Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Police spokesman, Charles Ssebamulidde says the driver, whose identity is still withheld is in their custody.
“The NRM Secretary General got involved in accident at Lweza where one Jane Namara was knocked dead as she was crossing the road. The body of the deceased was taken to city mortuary and the driver is with police helping in investigations,” Ssebamulidde told ChimpReports in a brief statement.
The driver is believed to be held at Kisubi Police Station where he reported immediately after knocking the female pedestrian.
Earlier today, Lumumba told our reporter that her convoy proceeded to Kisubi after the incident.
“The driver drove to Kisubi police station where we reported the incident. I’m well and going about with my duties,” she added.
Ssebamulidde however did not reveal if police is going to press charges against the driver.
The NRM S.G Mrs Lumumba has a police lead car and right of way.
