Independent Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) came out a little early to deliver a victory speech, after it emerged clear enough he would be announced winner of the Kyadondo East By Elections.
Although the Electoral Commission had not yet announced the final results, many by 7pm on Thursday were calling it a landslide victory for the self-professed ghetto president, judging from the preliminary results from the various polling stations.
Mr Bobi Wine at 7pm arrived at Saza Ground in Kasangati and was welcomed with lots of ululations from his ecstatic supporters.
Addressing press thereafter, Bobi expressed gratitude to the people of Kyadondo for making their voice heard and promised not to let them down.
He said, with their choice of MP, they had guaranteed that their voice would go straight to parliament, without alteration.
“The voice of the people as it comes from the ghetto, from markets and other places will be going straight to parliament unedited,” he said.
“Of course there are rich people too that I will be representing, but most of the people in the constituency are destitute.”
Bobi Wine condemned the hitches witnessed earlier during the voting where some of his agents were temporarily arrested.
“But after winning, I don’t want to look at who I had fights with, because most people decided today that I will be representing them.
