Kyabazinga Appoints Substantive Prime Minister

The Kyabazinga of Busoga William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope Gabula IV has appointed the director national planning authority Dr Joseph Muvawala, the substantive prime minister of Busoga kingdom.

Kyabazinga first appointed Dr Muvawala as the chairman of the interim committee that was running the kingdom affairs in September 2014 as he headed to UK for further studies.

He was appointed alongside an educationist and Kyabazinga diehard Lauben Lufafa as his deputy who does not finally appear on the list of prime ministers.

Dr Muvawala will be deputized by Prof Mohammed Lubega Kisambira and Osman Noordin Ahmed as first and second deputy prime minister respectively.

The announcement and subsequent swear-in of the new office bearers was made at Busoga Lukiiko by the kingdom spokesperson Andrew Ntange in the presence of the Kyabazinga.

They were immediately sworn-in by Jinja court magistrate Peter Mutala amidst ululations and chanting from the fully packed Lukiiko that comprised among others political leaders, cultural leaders, all the
ten hereditary chiefs and Busoga royalists.

In his maiden speech, the appointed prime minister promised to work closely with all his predecessors, hereditary chiefs, clan leaders and other stake holders to ensure Busoga regains its past glory.

“I am sure that Busoga can only move forward when all the eleven hereditary chiefdoms are brought on board to work together and this is now our task and priority. None of us is either old or young but
relevant for combining our efforts for development of Busoga” Dr Muvawala said.

He openly told the congregation that people in Busoga should bear with the new leadership as they step up efforts restores harmony in Busoga especially in repossessing Busoga’s property.

According to the new prime minister, a full cabinet of Busoga Kingdom will be announced on Saturday at 9am at the kingdom headquarters and thereafter sworn in to begin their activities.

However, a section of members of Busoga contend that the institution should re-admit the two controversy hereditary chiefs namely Yasin Waguma Ntembe for Butembe chiefdom and Juma Munulo for Bunya chiefdom.

Dr Muvawala thereafter hosted the guests including the Kyabazinga at a reception at his home in Kivubuka in Budondo Sub County.
