President Yoweri Museveni has commended the Chinese Government for the financial support extended to Uganda in terms of soft loan that is dedicated to numerous development programmes in the country.
“I am very satisfied with the support from the Chinese Government to our development especially the soft loan for the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway as well as the hydropower stations of Isimba and Karuma. This is very important as it will make Uganda become very competitive in economic development,” he said.
The President was meeting a Chinese delegation of investors this morning at State House, Entebbe who were led by Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Zhang Ming, led the 9-strong Chinese delegation.
He said that Uganda and China are cooperating very well in the development of the sectors of electricity, railways and industrial parks.
He urged the Chinese Government to extend additional support to Uganda in the development of infrastructure.

President Museveni and his guests discussed regional peace with particular reference to South Sudan, Burundi and Somalia, among others.
The Chinese Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Zhang Ming, thanked President Museveni for sparing hid busy time to meet him and share developmental issue regarding Uganda in particular and East Africa in general.
He assured the Government of Uganda that China will continue strengthening relations and support to the Government of Uganda in infrastructure development, mining and agriculture.
