
President Yoweri Museveni has described the late Nabukalu Virigo Kiwanuka, mother of Vice-President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, as a person of great wisdom, community leader and an elder who contributed to the development of Uganda.
This, the president said, in a condolence message to the family of the Vice-President at the burial of Mr. Sekandi’s mother in Masaka.

I learnt with sadness the death of Maama Nabukalu Virigo Kiwanuka, mother to His Excellency the Vice President, Edward Kiwanuka Sekandi. Please accept, on behalf of Government, my own behalf and my family, our heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences.
Today the nation sends off a mother of great wisdom, community leader and an elder who contributed to the development of Uganda.
Mothers play a great role in rising, molding and general upbringing of children. We pay tribute to Maama Virigo Nabukalu for her contribution to nation building through raising her children who have contributed greatly to the development of Uganda. I have no doubt that she made His Excellency Edward Sekandi what he is now. As a nation, we recognize that great contribution.
We thank God who granted Maama Virigo the gift of life up to the age of 101 and for enabling her realize such great achievements in life.
Maama Virigo leaves behind an inspiring and enviable legacy of hardwork, piety and kindness which attributes should be emulated by all Ugandans especially the young generation.
Our condolences go out to all her children, relatives, people of Bukoto county central-Kyanamukaaka and the entire greater Masaka region.
May God Rest her soul in eternal peace.
