
Brac Uganda Limited, a microfinance organization is on the spot for allegedly kidnapping one of its clients in Kabale district, over an unpaid loan.
Ruth Niweturiho, a credit officer with Brac in Kabale is being accused of detaining one Kesiime Kasaza, a resident of Bushuro in Kitumba Sub County at the company offices at Kirigime on 24th March 2017.
Kesiime was reportedly held for failure to repay a loan of Shs. 570,000 she had borrowed from the financial service provider.
Patrick Besigye Keihwa, the Kabale district chairman says he had to intervene after a relative of Kesiime went to to him complaining about the incident.
Keihwa says when he went at the Brac offices he found that Kesiime had been locked up in one of the rooms for about four hours. He then ordered the arrest of the credit officer Niweturiho.
Dickens Bindeba, the Kabale district police commander confirmed the arrest of Niweturiho, and added that the suspect will be arraigned in court and charged.
