FDC’s former presidential candidate Col Dr Kizza Besigye on Wednesday appeared before the Kasangati Grade One Magistrate to answer to charges of unlawful assembly and disobedience of lawful orders against Clause 117 of the Penal Code Act.
Besigye earlier last week after being released from home confinement, was arrested and detained briefly for flouting traffic guidelines.
Besigye reportedly refused to abide by police’s orders to flow an alternative route, thus stopping traffic on the Kasangati road.
The Kasangati Magistrates court had reportedly issued an arrest warrant for Besigye after he skipped the first session.
The Court granted Besigye a non cash bail of Shs 2Million and ordered him reappear on April 27th for hearing.
Tonny Kiyimba Ssempebwa and FDC’s Ingrid Turiwawe stood surety for the accused.
