Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President Col Dr Kiiza Besigye has petitioned High Court seeking to harmonize his appearances before the Nakawa Magistrates Court where he is charged with Treason.
Besigye says his frequent appearances in court have affected him financially and cost him a lot of time, hence calling for adjustments.
Recently while appearing before the Nakawa Court, Besigye vowed not to appear again before this court over the same matter since the State Prosecution has failed to finalize investigations in the matter to have him tried in High court.
In fulfillment of his bail terms for the treason case, Besigye today reported to the High Court Deputy Registrar Mary Khainza who ordered him to appear back on 20th March 2017.
Before this however, Besigye through his lawyer Ernest Kalibala had filed an application seeking harmonization of his appearances, which is expected to be heard on 22nd February 2017 before the Head of Criminal Division of High court Justice Wilson Kwesiga.
Addressing the press later on, Besigye promised prove to court that he committed the charges against him in case he is accorded the opportunity.
“This case is about declaring myself a winner which I have told court that I did and I am waiting for an opportunity in this court to show them that I did. We shall continue pushing until the case is heard” Besigye said.
Besigye added that these court appearances have not only wasted his
