
Police in Mbarara are searching for the body of a 25year woman who is said to have drowned herself in River Rwizi yesterday.
Police is being helped by the family members and locals of Katete cell, Mbarara Municipality to retrieve the body of the young woman.
According to relatives and eyewitnesses, Diana Nyamwiza who hails from Rugaga Sub county, Isingiro district but was visiting her older sister in Katete; went to the Hospital yesterday for a blood test, but the results shocked her.
On being told that she was HIV positive, they say, Nyamwiza at around 11:00am went to River Rwizi, undressed and left her clothes on the bank and threw herself into the river.
Ibin Ssenkumbi, the Rwizi region police spokesperson they were yet to locate her body in the river.
In another development Police in Mbarara also arrested a 52 year old man, saving him from a mob after his daughter stabbed a teenager with a knife after developing a fight over tap water.
Innocent Mutabazi was saved from the angry residents in Karaama cell, Mbarara municipality after his daughter Catherine Turyahabwa 19, stabbed Vicent Kawa aged 17 in the back.
According to Ssenkumbi, Mutabazi was attacked by the angry mob accusing him of helping his daughter escape after committing the crime.
Vicent Kawa is in critical condition at Mbarara regional hospital nursing wounds as the police is still hunting for Catherine.
