Police in Tororo were involved in an extraordinary confrontation with the Mobilization Secretary of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change Mrs Ingrid Turinawe.
The altercation stemmed from accusations by the latter that some police officers attempted to poison the opposition party’s former presidential candidate Col Dr Kizza Besigye.
Police together with the army woke up to surround Prime Hotel where Dr Kizza Besigye together with other party officials spent the night ahead of their regional meeting in Tororo town.
A couple of police officers however, landed themselves in trouble when they were found by Mrs Turinawe in the kitchen section, where food was being prepared for the guests.
The FDC iron lady, shouting on top of her voice, accused the officers of harboring ill intentions for the former FDC candidate.
“Where did I get you from? Where did get you from,” she yelled at one of the petrified police officers. “…in the kitchen; you stupid people!”
According to NBS Television which captured the conformation on tape, Mrs Turinawe found the police operations commander Barack Muhindo together with two other police officers in the kitchen area “where they are not supposed to be.”
Joined by the FDC Party chairman Wasswa Birigwa, Mrs Turinawe roughed up the officers and shoved them outside the hotel gate.
The officers maintained calm, as they were pushed together with their commander out of the hotel by the tough talking lady.
