
Police in Mbarara are holding 15 Forum for Democratic Change supporters who allegedly tried to hold an unlawful demonstration in the town on Thursday.
The group was reportedly protesting the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss a petition filed by Amama Mbabazi to challenge the February presidential election results.
The youthful supporters were according to police, unhappy with the ruling and decided to organize and demonstrate on the streets of Mbarara.
The group first held a meeting at Mbarara Catholic Social Center before proceeding down to the streets.
Police however intercepted them and arrested 15 of them.
DPC Jaffar Magyezi told Chimpreports on the arrests, “We shall not entertain any protests and whoever involved will be arrested and charged” he said
Magyezi said that the arrested will be taken to court and be charged according to the law.
