Makerere University has suspended 15 students for invading Mary Stuart, a female students’ university hall of residence and destroying property including chairs, cups, plates, dining tables, doors and a fridge.
According to a letter from the University administration, the students invaded the hall on Tuesday October 18th and caused loss of over 200 forks from the serving centre.
The letter also reveals that the students carried food from the serving centre and poured it at the entrance to Mary Stuart Hall, an act that was described as contrary to the University Students Regulations 2015.
“Therefore, in accordance with section 6(1)(d) of Makerere University Students’ Regulations 2015, you are here by suspended from the university with immediate effect,” the letter further read.
The students have been ordered to leave university premises indefinitely, pending a decision to be made by the University Disciplinary committee.
