
Police in Mbarara is investigating circumstances under which a Fuso Truck rammed into a Toyota Premio on the Mbarara – Masaka road yesterday, injuring one person.
The Rwizi regional traffic officer Patrick Mungasa confirmed that the Fuso Number UAW 201J carrying bananas rammed into a Toyota Premio, UAL 253F which was carrying school children from Mbarara Municipal School.
Mungasa named some of the survivors of the accident as one Saidat, the owner of the bananas who was in the lorry, drivers Venansio (Premio) Mubangizi and Martin Kansiime (Fuso), and 3 pupils of Mbarara Municipal School.
One of the pupils Blessing Mary Joy (P5) sustained minor injuries while the others Kevin Mubangizi and Accurate were in good health.
The RTO said the cause of the accident is not yet established but investigations are still ongoing and both drivers reported for bond at Mbarara police station after the accident.
In another development, another accident occurred this morning along Ishaka-Kasese road near Kyamuhunga secondary school.
The former general manager Kyamuhunga Peoples’ SACCO (KYAPS) Harriet Muheebwa and her 2 daughters survived the accident.
The 3 survived from being crashed by 2 Lorries, one of which lost control due to over speeding.
The accident involved a Premio, Coca-Cola truck Noumber UAA 036J and a Fuso truck number UAY 721D, which were coming from Bushenyi to Mbarara.
