President Yoweri Museveni has called for more investors in the building and construction sector in the country so that Uganda can move forward in the establishment of complex structures that house hotels, shopping malls and office facilities with a view to improving the skyline of Kampala City.

The President was meeting the Vice President and former Chairman of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Subhash Thakrar and his delegation who called on him at State House, Entebbe.

The delegation expressed interest in erecting prestigious commercial structures collectively in Kampala and other areas covering 240 acres so that the land is profitably utilised.

“Kampala City, which has extended from 7 hills to 21 hills also requires its skyline to be improved in design and structure,” he said.

He informed the delegation that by virtue of Uganda being right on the Equator and on high altitude, this provides an environment for good conditions to have buildings with minimal requirement of air condition to reduce pollution.

Mr. Subhash Thakrar assured President Museveni that he will handle the project with transparence, use local labour and capability to reduce costs adding that the project will bring investment value to the country like in other countries worldwide.

State Minister for Lands, Hon. Persis Namuganza and the Inspector General of Police, General Kale Kayihura, among others, attended the meeting.
