Police have Tuesday morning arrested two FDC party activists from the DRC Embassy in Kololo, Kampala.
Moses Awori and Harold Kaija were delivering a protest note against the detention of their member Sam Mugumya in a DRC prison.
Mugumya was in October 2014 arrested by DRC officials on charges related to subversion.
The UPDF spokesperson Col Paddy Ankunda said then Mugumya had been found together with four other people in possession of big sums of dollars and documents linking them to a rebel group in eastern DRC with intentions of overthrowing the Ugandan government.
Mugumya was jailed at Ndolo Military Prison where living conditions are said to be horrible.
In a recent media interview, Mugumya dismissed the charge as false, saying he was fleeing to exile when he was intercepted by Congolese intelligence officials.
It later emerged that Mugumya was listed among 215 suspected members of ADF set for trial in North Kivu.
According to Buhweju MP Francis Mwijukye, they are set to present a petition to the Ambassador seeking an explanation on Mugumya’s fate.
“For the last two years, we have not known what our colleague is up to. We want to know why he is still being held in DRC,” said Mwijukye.
Members in the procession included Mwijukye, Harold Kaija and Moses Byamugisha.
Byamugisha and Mwijukye were so close to Mugumya during FDC’s political activism.
At one moment, the trio lived together at Michael Kabaziguruka’s residence in Luzira, a Kampala suburb.
FDC maintain they are doing their best to ensure Mugumya gets justice.
